Worship

Collective Worship is an integral part of life at our school, rooted in the Bible: “Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.” (Psalm 100:2) Worship is led weekly by the headteacher, a member of the clergy and teaching staff, with all teachers leading worship in their classrooms. It takes place daily, either as a whole school or in class, and KS1 and KS2 children have access to our prayer garden for individual reflection and prayer.
Our Christian vision is central to worship, guiding clergy and staff to shape meaningful experiences. Worship is revisited regularly, helping children understand and express its impact on their lives. Pupils are actively involved in planning and leading worship, giving them ownership and ensuring continual improvement.
Spirituality is developed through worship by guiding children to explore faith, express devotion and strengthen their relationship with God.
School worship is inclusive, invitational and inspirational:
• Inclusive: All children are welcomed and language is chosen to respect children of other faiths or none.
• Invitational: Children are invited, but not expected to pray. Songs often use the word “God” to allow everyone to participate.
• Inspirational: Pupils are given a challenge or idea to reflect on throughout the day. Worship is monitored to ensure key messages are understood and acted upon.
Worship is structured around our vision and values, starting with the autumn 1 focus on “Let Your Light Shine” and exploring one value per half term throughout the rest of the year.
